BackSCNR was born from a shared passion for biomechanics and a commitment to improving scoliosis care. Dr. Lindsey Westover and Dr. Samer Adeeb, both engineering professors at the University of Alberta, met during their post-graduate studies and bonded over their dedication to finding better ways to assess scoliosis.
Their journey began with a simple yet profound idea: the severity of scoliosis is reflected in the asymmetry of the torso. Advances in scanning technology and the encouragement of clinicians eager to try their method convinced them to commercialize their product.
